General Resources
This page is a central hub for rehoming, lost/found pets, vet care, and other community resources. While Lifeline of Galveston County can’t take in every animal, we’re committed to helping you find solutions.
🔄 Rehoming or Surrendering a Pet
We are not currently accepting pets from the public.
However, you can explore the following resources:
-
Rehome by Adopt-a-Pet – create a profile and find a new home for your pet
-
Home to Home – rehome your pet directly without them entering a shelter
-
Pet Food or Veterinary Assistance: See “Pet Support” section below
If you were referred by a municipal shelter, email us at info@lifelinetx.org with details.
👶 Found Neonatal Kittens?
DO NOT rush to remove kittens--they may have a mom nearby.

🐱🐶 Found a Stray?
We are not a municipal shelter and do not currently accept public strays unless you are willing to foster and are referred by a Galveston County municipal shelter.
Please:

Alternatives to Animal Control
There are not many shelter or rescues that take pets from the public. You can try contacting local rescue groups and posting on groups such as:
📍 Local Rehoming & Rescue Networking Groups: These groups allow rehoming posts, rescue networking, and urgent pleas (note each group’s rules before posting):
-
Galveston County Area Pets – Rehoming and Adoptions
(If available; some are private or temporary—search by name)
🐕 Lost and Found Pet Groups (also good for strays and reunited pets)
-
Alvin Manvel Santa Fe Pearland Friendswood Texas Lost & Found
-
Bayou Animal Services Lost & Found Pets (Dickinson & Surrounding Areas)
👥 Tips for Posting:
-
Always include location, temperament, age, vetting status, and reason for rehoming
-
Add clear photos and mention if you’re looking for rescue help or direct adoption
-
Avoid posting to “free pet” groups unless you're screening homes carefully
