Working Cat Program

Give Independent Cats a Job, and a Safe Place to Call Home.

Cat on stone wall

Not Every Cat Wants to Be a House Cat. Some Prefer a Job.

What is a Working Cat?

Some cats are healthy and capable of living long lives, but they are not comfortable as lap cats.

These cats may:

  • Be fearful of people

  • Prefer minimal handling

  • Become stressed in a home environment

  • Have lived outdoors for much of their lives

Instead of euthanasia, we provide these cats with an alternative placement where they can live safely and naturally.

Great Placements Include

  • Barns

  • Warehouses

  • Porches

  • Shops

  • Garden centers

  • Breweries

  • Auto repair businesses

  • Ranches

  • Private properties with outbuildings

What You Provide

To be successful, working cats need:

Safe Shelter

A barn, tack room, garage, warehouse, shed, or similar enclosed structure.

Daily Food and Fresh Water

Even the best hunters need regular meals.

Initial Confinement Period

A secure enclosure for 2–4 weeks so the cat learns this is home. (We can provide these set ups)

Ongoing Care

Veterinary care as needed and long-term commitment.
