It is with heavy hearts that we announce the temporary closure of pet intake at Lifeline, our grassroots nonprofit shelter and rescue organization. Despite our best efforts, several significant funding proposals were not granted, leaving our organization struggling to sustain our current operations. With 180 animals currently under our care, our priority lies in ensuring their well-being and providing them with the love and support they deserve. We understand that this decision may come as a shock to many in our community who rely on us for assistance. Last year alone, we took in 553 pets and facilitated 498 spay/neuter procedures for county community cats. Since the start of this year, we've rescued 91 pets from the Galveston County Animal Resource Center, including 25 fragile neonatal kittens, and diverted 93 stray pets from the facility through our Good Samaritan program in an effort to assist with raising county pet live-release rates. in total, we have intook 268 pets into our program so far this year.
Closing our intake is not a choice we make lightly, but without the necessary financial resources, we simply cannot continue to operate at full capacity. We humbly ask for your support during this challenging time. Whether through donations, business sponsorships, or sharing stories of how Lifeline has made a difference, your involvement can help us continue our mission of saving lives when no one else will. Together, we can ensure a brighter future for every animal in need.
